We believe every child should be given the chance to reach their full potential including those with additional learning, physical, sensory, emotional or social needs
We use the Continuum of Support model as published by the Department of Education and the National Council for Special Education (NCSE).
1. Support for All
Every class teacher uses uses teaching strategies to support inclusion in their daily lessons. This includes differentiated learning activities, visual supports and hands-on learning, flexible grouping and active learning. The teachers monitor each child’s progress and identify if extra help is needed.
2. Support for Some
Some children benefit from small-group or targeted support in specific areas such as literacy, numeracy or social skills. This is provided by our Special Education Teachers (SETs), who work closely with class teachers to plan and review learning goals and targets.
3. Support for a Few
A small number of children may need more intensive or individualised support in the form of one-to-one teaching.
The School Support Team
Your child’s learning team may include:
Class Teacher – your child’s main educator and daily support.
Special Education Teacher (SET) – provides small group and individual withdrawal or support within the classroom.
Special Needs Assistant (SNA) – supports children with care or mobility needs.
Specialist professionals – such as NEPS psychologists, speech and language therapists, or visiting teachers (for sensory or physical needs).
